Gail Van Tatenhove, www.vantatenhove.com/, one of America’s leading AAC clinicians, will present “PIXON” in Auckland on Saturday 16th May.
PIXON is a fresh, unique, low-tech communication system based around core vocabulary and a very differently styled manual board. This is a language-based approach that seeks to keep options and aspirations open for users, their families and support teams.
Gail will discuss how PIXON can be used as a standalone system or as a back-up to a high-tech AAC device. During the session you will learn of the component parts making up the PIXON Kit and then move on to gain an appreciation of the contextual aspects of the symbol set.
You will experience the comprehensive teaching modules that help to set goals, provide teaching tips and deliver measurable outcomes.
Gail will cover how props can be made from Kit materials to consolidate learning, before finally showing how PIXON can furnish environmental engineering tools for both classroom and home.
Register now and be in the draw to win a Pixon Kit Cost: $20.00 including GST per person AAC users and their families free
